Competition, was scarcely as keen as the previous sale, although, with few’exceptions, eveiythingsold. On Saturday we held a clearing sale of live ■Vend dead stock-in the estate of the late W. . Maskery, . There was a good attendance and ' very.satisfactory prices ruled. Cows sold at from £3 5s to £6 12s 6d ; farm horses, £l3 td £25 ; unbroken two-year-old horses, £24 to £26 ; foal, £l4. ‘ Cattle: At the Newmarket Yards /on Tuesday a large number of dairy and store stock were yarded, with a full supply of beef, Dairy cows sold at from £3 10s to £6 Ss ; empty cows, £2 to £3 ss; calves, 16s to £1 8s; grown steers, £4 to £5 sb. ..Bidding for.beef.was brisk,, prices being on par with last week. Oxen sold to 23s per ; 1001 b ; cows, 1 17s to 20s. Steers sold at Sm £6 Iss to £lO 12s 6d ; cows, £3 15s to • The fat oattle, although of good ..Mjfx/. were, without exception light Weights. Sheep, were yarded in usual numbers, but showed no improvement on last week’s prices, although the market had a firmer tone. Wethers sold at from 16s to £1 3s ; ewes, t 13s 6d to £1 0s 6d ; lambs, 9s 6d to 18s. The advertised store ewes sold at from 7s 6d to, 12s 9d ;*do., wethers, 13s 3d 14s 3d.

Northern Sales :At Tangowahine, owing to .the extremely wet day, there was a small ' which,sold under the hammer. At Arapohue there was a good yarding of stock of all. descriptions, which sold well under brisk competition. At Raupo there was sn average yarding, consisting mostly of . rbeefoows, which sold, without exception, at uhngrates. At Maungatnroto large num- • , bera of cattle came forward, and in nearly every instance shies resulted, the exception being calves, of which too many were \ yawed for requirements. At Kaiwaka the .- .- y»*us. were again full, and nearly all the stock was sold at auction or immediately after at satisfactory rates. At Wellsford mostly young stock and cows with calves came forward, sales resulting in most cases. At W ark worth .the yards were full, some of the cattle being really ’ choice. Bidding was goqd im anything showing quality, and we ■ **port a successful sale. The advertised land ? at Matakana elicited keen competition and sold: at a satisfactory" price.
