Copies of the Electoral Rolls and Defaulters’ Lists for the Ohinemuri County Council are now open for inspection. At an early hour yesterday morning, the whole of the framework, chimneys, etc., in connection with the new Wai* orongomai hotel in course of erection, on the corner of the Te Aroha-Waiorongomai Road, was blown down. This means a great loss to the contractor for the work.

On Saturday afternoon last the last game of bowls of the season eventuated on the local green, when Messrs Dalton (skip), Barbour. Salmon, and Stanley (28) met and defeated Messrs Somers (stop), McKee, Spooner, and Holland (20). The game was a most enjoyable one for all concerned.
When Mr Cleave, of Auckland, was coming. through to Paeroa from Te Aroha in his motor car on Friday last, he car got stuck in a bog hole on the Te Aroha side of the gorge The hole was 10yds long, and several feet deep Mr Cleave had to fascine the place before he could get through with his car. It is a pity this road is not kept in better repair, as if it were in good order more tourists would visit Paeroa from Auckland, coming by way of Te Aroha.
At the County meeting la»t evening the Mayor stated that as a result of an interview he had had with Mr Sherlock, one of the Band Trustees, that gentleman had expressed his willingness to hand over the trusteeship of the Band to the Council, without compensation, provided that he was reimbursed for monies he (Mr Sherlock) had expended in connection with the bandroom and band. The Mayor said MrMclnman had also agreed to hand over the trusteeship under certain conditions.
Amongst the published list just re* ceived from Scotland of the class merit lists of the winter session, 1907-8, of the Edinborough University Medical School, we notice)that Mr J. F. Brown, a brother of Mr Stanley Brown, of Te Aroha, has met with a good deal of success. In the senior practical anatomy examination, Mr J. F, Brown obtained 2nd class honours; in the senior division of physiology, he obtained 2nd class honours; honours without medals for successful condidates in the experimental physiology examination have been awarded to Mr J. F. Brown; also second class honours in practical chemical physiology examination.
