ROADS AND DRAINS.
■gp [To the Editor.]^ ~For : some four and, a half n'hOW the Waitoa settlers have , Deenhandicappedby almost impassabld in the winter time. When the \ Counties concerned made arrangements with 'the Bank of. New Zealand some two months ago, it was understood by the Waitoa settlers that the road making would be taken .hi hand at once. Now, I understand, the County Councils . iutend to shelve this matter as they consider it is, too late in the season. • So we Win ,be once again isolated. ; T think, myself, that there is plenty of time this season to make a good start with the drains, as most of the vwater could be got away before the heavy rains, and as it was the intention of several settlers to go in for wheats 1 this, ooming season evexyj assistance should be given them, aar there is no doubt about the Waitoa being, a first-class grain growing
I was pleased to see a leading ; article paper, some weeks ago, bearing on wheat-growing at Waitoa* I. should like to see, Sir, .an. artiole in every issue on our ; district as you cannot advertise it too ; much. We have a good district and I think it is our duty to let outsiders know it.—l am, ©to., Webfoot.
