i The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company’s Ltd., weekly report : i Horses :On Friday, at the Durham Yards, j horses were yarded in larger numbers than for some weeks, and anything of a useful ! sort sold under keen competition. Hea-yy * draughts sold at from £34 10s to £46 ; ! medium do., £25 to £36 ss; hacks and light harness horses, £7 10s to £lB ; weeds and ponies, £1 16s to £4 10s; spring-cart, £l3 ; waggon, £25 10s. We held a sale of thoroughbreds at the Harp of Erin stables on Wednesday last. There was a large attendance and competition was dull. The following sales were effected: —Bay mare Electra and foal, 50 guineas; brown mare Chic and foal, 25 guineas; brown mare Port Light, 45 guineas. On Wednesday, at Tuakau, we had a fair muster, which sold at late rates. On Saturday we held a clearing sale of live and dead stock on account of Mr James Black at Papaknra, who has sold his farm. There was a large attendance and very satisfaothry prices ruled. Dairy cows sold at from £4 10s to £7 10s; empty cows, £2 10s to £3 5s ; fat do., £4 12s 6d to £5 7s 6d ; dray, £l6 15s ; farm horses, £3O to £35 ; unbroken f do., yearlings and two-year-olds, £ll 5s to £2O ; hay rake, £6 5s ; disc harrows, £6 5s roller, £9 15s ; drill, £l2 10s. Cattle : At the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday dairy and store stook were yarded in usual numbers, with a full supply of beef. Dairy cows sold at from £4 10s to £7 ; heifers, £3 10s to £5 15s ; empty cows, £7 2s 6d to £3 ss; calves, 15s to £1 Bs. Bidding for beef was scarcely as brisk as the previous week, although quotations were the same, oxen selling at 23s per lOOlbs and cows at 17s to 21s. Steera sold at from £6 10s to £lO 17s 6d ; cows, £3 10s to £7 ss. The fat cattle throughout were of excellent quality, although no extra heavy weights were yarded. ' Sheep: These were penned in full numbers at Newmarket on Tuesday and sold under steady competition, prices being lower than the previous week, wethers selling at from 15s 6a to £1 3s, ewes 13s 6d to 18s 6d, well-fatted lambs 10* 6d to 14s 9d, other sorts 6s 6d to 10s. The advertised Angora • goats averaged £3 11s 6d. Billys sold at from £3 18s to £6 10s; nannies, £2 Is to £3 18s. | Pigs : Porkers sold at from £1 8s to £1 17s ; weaners, 3s 6d to 12s 6d ; baconers, £2 2s to £3 Id. Sheepskins : Market firm. Best butchers’ pelts, and lambs, Is 6dto Is 9d ; others, Is to Is 4d. Bones, £4 16s. Cowtails, Is 8d dozen. ( Horsehair, Is to Is 4jd. Maize: Supplies are again very much short of requirements and the market remains firm at 5s 3d on wharf for wholesale lines. Wheat is in good demand at 5s 3d ex store. Oats are selling at 2s 9d c.i.f. for wholesale lines. Butter : The market is easier excepting for choice separator, whioh is selling at lOjd to 1 Id; good quality, 9Jd to lOd ; poor, 9d. Cheese : Factory is selling at 6d ; farmers’ 5d to sjd. Fungus is selling freely at 4sd.
