School Committee Elections

James, H. T. Fafcjand W. H. Bailey. AXxhe Te Aroha committee meeting, R. L. Somers and Mr Geo. Sherlock, were re-elected chairman ' and secretary respectively. Messrs • Ashby and Wallace were appointed agvisiting and works committee. It f '".k was decided to hold meetings on the first Monday in each month. , MORRINSVILLE. A School Committee was not elected here as .owing to the lack of interest shown by the parents and householders. There were only six present, four of the outgoing Committee, Messrs Spargo, Marshall, Davenport, and Neels, and Messrs v ;Keogh and Snell. It-was decided to inform the Board of Education that "ipai Committee could be elected. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to • .rf;" the Chairman, Mr Spargo, and ’the Secretary, Mr Neels, for the manner in which they had carried out their ,' duties during the past year, MATAMATA. > ' The annual meeting of house- ; y-'l holders took place in the schoolroom on Monday evening last. There was a large. 1 attendance. The outgoing committee- presented the annual report and balance sheet showing a credit of £6 12s which was received and adopted. The follow* Ing gentlemen were elected a committee for the ensuing year: Messrs J. Smyth, R. S. James, t. McCaw, J. J. Farrell, J. L. Long, Jas. Pohlen, and E. Burnell. At a meeting held subsequently Mr Jas. Pohlen was elected chairman, and Mr J. L. Long, secretary. WAIHOU.
A meeting of householders took place at the Waihou School, when ; the ‘ . following gentlemen were v ■ i Elected for the ensuing year: Mr O’Donoghue, chairman, and Messrs Thomas Farmer, John Borrie, I. Timmins, H. Magill, D. Borrie, and H. 0. Cooper, secretary. At the above meeting the secretary stated that during the past year the r ; patents and residents in and about iVaihou subscribed to the cause of ’Educatibn and to the children no l ess a sum than £32 17s gd, made up '-‘■(.y-'is follows: to concert £l3 15s od, to " annual picnic £9 16s 3d, to presentation to Miss Kitching £7 ts ,6d, to improvement fund ss, labour ' “given '£2, Taking the roll number as 90 it works out to J for each scholar. Considering the hard season it has been, such free willing giving is a credit to the district, and top example to the whole of New Zealand,
