THE TE AROHA DOMAIN.
[To the Editor,] Sir, —At the meeting of the Domain Board, the Chairman informed the members that he was pleased to say that Te Aroha had at last secured a recreation reserve of their own. And yet in the face of these remarks the same gentleman Sses that they call tenders for g the recreation reserve, which means, according to his own statement, that our children will have nowhere to play for the next twelve months. And yet the Chairman saysheis pleased. If so I would like to know what it is that pleases him. Is it because the recreation reserve is to be let for grazing purposes, instead of being used as a Domain. I quite agree with the remarks made by Mr Williams, in his letter to your paper. It is a pity that we have not men of hi stamp on the Council, as the only 8 way to make our town go ahead is to have real live men at the head of things, as at present such is not the case. Take our endowment on the west side of the river, we ought to be receiving a big revenue from it. Why, Sir, there ought to be dozens of smiling homesteads on it, but whatdowesee, a rubbish pit, and nursery bed for that most terrible of pests the blackberry, which in a very short time if something is not soon
done, will cost the ratepayers of this borough hundreds of pounds to exterminate, which I quite expect is only a fore runner of what our Domain will be, seeing that the same body controls both. Hoping the ratepayers will wake up and keep an eye on the doings of those they have placed in charge.—l am, etc., Resident.
