QUARTERLY MEETING-
The quarterly meeting of the Upper Thames Methodist Circuit was held at Waihi the other evening. ; The balance-sheet presented reduced the debt by £B. The roll of membership, notwithstanding' many removals, was slightly augmented.president’s letter alluding to .prayer and re-consecration was read and it was decided to organise special services in the four principal places at an early, date; .. .. -The chairman reported progress at Mamaku, and-informed the; meeting that the building of the new church would i ;shortly,be commenced.
Socials to welcome the Rev. J. Wrigley to Waihi, and. the Rev. A. J. Reed to Paeroa, are to be held in each place. The meeting unanimously adopted the following resolution : “ That in view of the approaching local option poll, we respectfully urge our people throughout the electorate covered by the circuit to unite in the "endeavour to bring the present baneful liquor traffic ;.to an • end, by entering into this crusade with a quickened enthusiasm, by seeing that, their names and the names of all whom they are able to influence are placed on the electoral roll, by doing all in their power to educate public opinion on the manifold benefits..accruing to those districts wherever no-license has been tried, and by conscientiously discharging their duty on the day of the local option poll. ~ ? It was decided to hold the next meeting at Te Aroha.
