Druid's Social
The local Older of Druids held rheir annual social in the Public Hall last night, the hall being" crowded, and inelueed a number of outside visitors, and in every way the social was a great success, and me Committeo and Secre taries are to be congratulated on the success of their off -its. The hall was prettily decorated with bunting and ferns, and there were card tables on the stage for nonwlancera. The music •v .s supo'i 'by lie T A oha Trio, and was all that eouhi u i-d, while the £lo »r was as s ;th < s it was possible to get it. Exu-is were played during the 6/ening by ?tfi-ses Stanley and Patterson, while Mr Bonny gave a par >dy on “ Sweet Marie,” though the choice of song c-iuld have been greatly improved. Messrs Doverell and McSweeney carried out the arduous duties of M.O’s. in a very capable manner. Refreshments were handed round during an interval and fully approciated.
A special feature of the Social was the Druid’s procession through the town prior to the Social. The Druids attired in their gowns and whiskers formed an imposing sight, while in the contr-* of the procession, was Bodiacea “ the lady Druid,” As this event had been looked forward to for some time, a large number of people assembled to see it and the only thing lacking to make it a complete success was a brass band. It is probable that a local band wiU be available by next social.
