STRIKE ENDED.
, s LONDON, Yesterday. , Mr Grayson (socialist member for Colne Valley Division of Yorkshire), in a letter to the Times, says that his speech at Huddersfield was misreported. Referring to the terrible incidents in Belfast, he says he remarked that ’ the fight was a most unequal one, since one side had military training, ball cartridge, gatlings and bayonnets, while on the other side there were only broken bottles. His state- j ment was a very different thing from that attributed to him. The Carters’ strike at Belfast has been settled. The employers having conceded in some cases five shillings a week rise. The average increase being two shillings per employee, with freedom to employ whom they choose. -
