Te Aroha Ladies’ Hockey Team.

The following criticisms of the match against Waihou, on Wednesday, are submitted b, a spectator :

Miss Garrett (goalkeeper) was fairly safe, clearingon several occasions smartly, should use her feet more.

Miss Ryan (left-back), very safe, can break up a forward rush, and uses her stick with judgment.

Miss Jennings (right-back) plays a solid game, if she had a little more pace would make a good player. Miss A. Hare (centre-half), a mighty, hitter, should play close up to her forwards more, and send the ball out to the wings oftener ; handles her stick well, though inclined to lift it too high. Miss Partington (right half) a novice at the game rather inclined to stand and watch an opponent play the ball than to rush in and spoil, hits too much to the centre, will improve with practice.

Miss O. Patterson (left-half), inclined to be timid, poor at stoppin and hitting; in fact, all the halves do not stop too well. Miss Spooner (right-wing), an old player. Very fast on her feet, but cannot double with judgment, and is too much iuclined to get out of her place ; shoots well.

Miss Heatlicote (inside-right), an improving player, should support her centre aud outside more Miss McKenzie (centre-forward), good heady player, is fairly fast, can shoot well, should pass to her outsides instead of trying to best the opposing backs. Miss H. Stanley (inside left), knows very little about the game, but judging from the exhibition she gave on Wednesday should, with experience, make a fine player. Miss Hare (outside-left), one of' the best players in the team ; is fast and driDbles well, should practice passing and centreing more. On the whole, the Te Aroha team played much below their true form particularly in the first spell, they only gave us a glimpse of what they could d > in the latter part of the second spell, an 1 had hard luck in not scoring.
