NEW ZEALAND v. AUSTRALIA.
SYDNEY, YesterdayThe following will comprise the Australian team against New Zealand at Sydneyto-day : —Carmichael (Queensland) back ; Russell, Smith, Dix, Watson (Queensland) threequarters ; McKivatt, Woods, halves ; Flanaghan (Queensland), Barrett, Griffin, Rosewell, McCue, Burge, Row, James, Hughes, forwards. The Queenslanders have been housed and practising with the Welshmen for some days. Thmre is intense interest over the match, and another record attendance is predicted. A suggestion for a third match between New Zealand and New South Wales to determine the superiority is receiving considerable support* The following is the New Zealand team for to-morrow’s match against Australia:—
Booth, full-back; Wallace, Mitchinson, Fryer, three-quarters; Hunter, Mynott, five-eighths; Roberts, halfback ; Coleman, Seeling, Francis, Cunningham, Hughes, Casey, McDonald and Johnston, forwards; Eckhold and Spcnc r, reserves. [The result of the football match, New Zealand v. Australia, will be posted up outside the News office about 7.30 to-night.] WELLINGTON, This Day. At a meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union a letter was read from Mr Palliser, London representative, stating that eleven international players had already intimated their willingness to visit New Zealand. A sub-committee was engaged in approaching individual players, and there was no doubt about a team coming.
