Te Aroha lest.

Thursday evening was the second open night of ihe local Social and Library Club and parsed off very successfully, about 30 members being present. Games were indulged in by all, most attention being paid to table bowls, and floor quoits. At 10 o’clock, supper, kindly provided by Mrs Forrest, and Mrs and Miss Davis, was handed round and greatly appreciated, a vote of thanks to the ladies being carried by acclamation. The next open night will be held in a month’s time, and ns usual the school is open every Thursday evening from 7 o’clock to 10, for games and the exchange of books. We are looking forwaid to having an assistant teacher at our school next quarter, only a slight increase being necessary on the present average, which last quarter exceeded 43. Unce more our school has come to the fore in writing contests : Miss Elizabeth Collins being very highly commended against all comers at the recent Inter national Exhibition. She received a handsome certificate nicely fitted in a gilt frame. It was shown to members at the social evening on Thursday night and was much admired.
