MORRINSVILLE.

[Our own ] A meeting of the Piako Rugby Union Was held in the Nottingham Castle Hotel, on Friday evening. Present: Messrs Borrie, Rice and Rooney (Waihou), Aitken and Binney (Te Aroha), Wintere, Simpson and Gall (Morrinsvilie). Mr Rooney was voted to the chair, a letter from the Te Puke Union asking if a match could be played at Morrinsvilie on the occasion of their Union’s visit to the Waikato, and what allowance would be made, was receivsd. It was decided to allow them 50 per cent, of the gate money, the secretary to write for further particulars. The accounts for referees’ expenses were passed also one from the “Te Aroha Mail ” office for printing By-laws, which, however, was considered excessive. One small account was deferred pending inquiries. A halter was received from the referee reporting F. Shine for disputing his decivion, and it was decided, as the referee considered the offence a slight one and the player had met with an accident, that no action be taken. A report was received re a Waihou player using bad language while acting as line umpire, and a motion was proposed that he be disqualified for the remainder of season, and an amendment that he be cautioned and his apology be forwarded to the referee was carried, on the casting vote of the 1 chairman. Mr Hickey, who is leaving on an extended holiday, resigned the position of secretary, Mr Rice being appointed to the position. Mr Alex. Johnston was appointed referee for the junior mutch Te Aroha v. Waihou, at Waihou, and. Mr H. Johnston.(Hamilton) for the senior match at Waihou on Saturday, 13th July. A vote of thanks to the Secretary and Chairman concluded the bnriness. The football match Waihou and Te Aroha v. Morrinsvilie schoolboys, was won by Morrinsvilie by 33 to 8. several of the Morrinsvilie boys being too weighty for their opponents. Mr Simpson had charge of the game.

The stock sale heldhere on Friday was highly successful, practically all the stock, of whick there was a good entry, was disposed of, and also the old school building. A meeting of ratepayers is called for Tuesday evening to consider the advisability of nominating a candidate for the Pinko Couuty election and other business.

Our genial medico has been confined within doors during the week, it is to be hoped he will soon be quite recovered.
