Disastrous Fire at Eltham.

ELTHAM, This Day.

A fire broke out on Sunday morning in the shop occupied by Mrs Adams, ; fruiterer, High-street. A gale was j raging, and other wooden structures quiokly caught fire. The ra in kept the sparks down, but the fire was not stepped till the following shops were partly or wholly destroyed:—Adams, |Mrs Hennesy, confectioner; Misses Cowens and Cave, dressmakers; Cresswell, general store; Parker, dentist; Miss Robb, draper; Mrs Lewis, fruiterer; Payna, jeweller ; Walker, saddler; and Dixon, blacksmith. The loss is estimated at £6,000 ; of this £3,000 was insured. The fire destroyed the telegraph wires and they were only restored this morning.
