There is a force of 58 cadet corps in the Colony, with a total strength of 3094 of all rankis, Als showing the progress of New Zealand in fifty years, in 1856 the export of flax was 22 tons, valued at £552. Alt the end of 1905 the amount exported wa® 27,877 tons, valued at £696,467. We learn l that the gum market continues steady; flax is also selling freely, while timber is in good demand. In the volunteering service (infantry corps) in the colony there are 120 corps, with a strength of 472 officers', 6409 other rank®. There are 73 corps of mounted rifles, with a strength of 353 i officers, 3836 other ranks.
