MORRINSVILLE.

[Our own Correspondent.] % The football match between the local schoolboys and Waiho i and Te Aroha combined, on Saturday was highly interesting. Some real good play was wit • nessed on both sides, despite the quantity of water which was lying on the ground, The tackling of young Atkins, a Te Aroha boy, was splendid, and brought rounds of applause from the spectators. The Morrinsville boys, who had the best of the weight, won by 12 points to three. The last try was converted, but the goal was disallowed for an infringement. The local boys showed that they had been carefully coached by their teacher Mr Campbell. Mr Neels had charge of the game. The senior match, Morrinsville v Waihou, proved rather a surprise despite the the conclusion expressed that Waihou would easily defeat the blue and blacks They failed by 3 points, having to digest their first defeat they have received for some time. Messrs Strange Bros, thrashing and chaff- cutting plant is at present in the district, but owing to the unsettled state | of the weather, not much progress has been made. Mr J. C. R, Watts is making good headway with the erection of Mr Reed’s residence. There is every indication of a con tinuance of frosty nights, which will enable farm and other outdoor work to be pushed on.
