A REMARKABLE ADVENTURE.
Miss Nellie McCarthy, a.n Etnglish girl of 19, who recently went to Paris to take a situation as a governess, had an exciting adventure with a Would-be robber in the Rue Rambuteaui. She lost her way among, the Paris streets), and asked a woman hamedi Basset to direct her to her hotel' in the Rue Sfc .Homore. The woman offered to show her the way, and led her instead to her own apartments. The'woman induced) her to enter, and then locked the door/and demanded Miss Carthy’s jewels and! money. The Einglish girl answered by producing a revolver and shooting the woman in fchie shoulder. The police were called bv the neighbours, and explanations at the police station led to the release of'Miss McCarthy. The woman Bassett is in the hospital, and wll be charged! with attempted, Jobbery.
