School Socials.

On Friday evening meetings of the two committees which have undertaken the holding of socials in aid of the Te Aroha School improvement fund, were held in the school. The ladies' committee met first, and there were present Mesdames Kenny, Burton, Beawick, Wallace, Sherlock, and Miss Fawcett. Apologies for unavoidable absence were received from Mesdames Somers, Cowie, and Jennings. The committee agreed to undertake the supper arrangements in connection with four entertainments; namely, two socials and two progressive euchre parties. Another meeting will be held in the sams place on Monday evening, when arrangements will he completed in detail. A meeting of the gents’ committee was held subsequently. Those present were Mcrsra Somers, Burton, Sherlock, Wallace, Scott, Rev. E. M. Cowie, and Dr. Kenny. Mr Somers was ek'Ll chairman, and Mr Burton secretary. 9 The committee decided to hold the four entertainments named above, and the airangement of dates with the proprietor of the hall was left to the Secretary. Messrs Somers and Scott and Dr. Kenny were appointed a sub-committee to select suitable programme cards and draw up a programme of dances. It was decided to secure the services of the local “ Trio ” to provide dance music.

To enable the ladies to set out supper in good style without interruption and un cramped by lack of space, it was agreed to request the school committee to grant the use of part of the school as a supper-room. The price of tickets for the first social was fixed as follows : gentlemen 3s, ladies 2s. No double tickets are to be issued. Several other matters of detail were arranged.
