The geysers at Whiakamvarewa’are showing great activity. Now that the number of telephone subscribers ha,s exceeded 65 Waihi is entitled to an 8 a-.m. to- 8 p.m. telephone service. The town clerk of Hastings has received the final instalment of the grant by Mr A. Carnegie of £2500 for the Hastings Public Library. The total credit balance shown by the Grand Treasurer of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand Freemasons is £L2°425. It was Mrs John Prouse, wife of the celebrated singer, who guaranteed the expenses of the Exhibition- orchestral in the recent- Neiw Zealand tour.
