The Winter Show.

The inaugural Winter 'how of the Auckland Provincial will be opened by the Hon. R. McNab, Minister for Lands, on Wednesday next, aud bids fair to be one of the finest shows of its kind ever held in New Zealand.

The country district exhibits should prove a great attraction as also should the exhibits of poultry and the Agricultural Department’s contribution. The townspeople are also well catered for, as the colonial industries have joined in takiug up space in the various branches of industries.

The feature which is of vast import auce to local factory managers, and ii which keoe interest has been maniiestei throughout the past dairy season, is th question of points for the butter ex ported during the season for which valu able prizes are offered. The prizes ari given by the Auckland A. aud P. Society for the factories scoring the highesl points for butter exported from Ootobei Ist, 1906, to March 31st, 1907. The firsl prize is valued at £2O, and with this goei the medal aud cup, valued at 25 guineas The second prize is valued at £lO and the third at £5, in addition to which thert are 12 other prizes of the total value of £-15. The points are calculated on thf basis of those recorded on the grading reports issued for every parcel of butter exported, and the exact average will be worked out to decimal points on the basis of the quantity and quality shipped. Exhibits of butter and cheese have been forwarded from Taranaki and Wairarapa factories, which will doubtless lend an additional attraction to this section, whilst cheese exhibits are being forwarded from as far south as Edendale, in. Southland, and no less than eight factories south of Canterbury are sending exhibits. It is anticipated that there will be a large influx of visitors from the youth and the country districts, and special train and boat arrangements at excursion rates are being made.
