ANNUAL DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES.
(From a Correspondent.) On Thursday last, at the To Aroha West School the annual presentation of prizes took place. Mr Ferguson, the chairman of the School Committee, made the 'presentations, and, addressing the children, said it gave him great pleasure i to give out their prizes that day for two j reasons. Firstly, because he knew they [ wore all getting on very nicely with their , work , the Inspector’s reports showed that. Secondly, because he knew they would all have worked well even with-
out the hope of reward. He referred to the prizes already distributed—at the time of the concert—and expressed sorrow that that he could not have the pleasure of again presenting them. The following prizes (special) had already been received by the winners : For fnil attendance, Bert. Mackwood,

•be prizes were tlnn distributed, a book being received by each child. After all the children had received their prizes, Mr Ferguson referred to the ’rouble taken by the teacher, Air Bell, in each year arranging a concert to obtain prize funds. The children were then dismissed for the day and went away with b ‘liming faces, which clearly showed heir appreciation of the day’s eve its.
