SCHOOL OF INSTRUCTION
Complaints .concerning the drill books on issue to New Zealand volunteers have been frequent for many years past, but it has remained for the Council of Defence to remedy the trouble. Decision has been come to by that body that Imperial Drill Book will be adopted for use by the New Zealand defence forces, and an order for a large number of the books has been cabled to London. The new manual will be put into circulation immediately after arrival.
The school of instruction set up for the benefit, of staff-sergt,-majors, and to ensure uniformity o-f ’drill instruction in all • volunteer* districts, has concluded its session in Wellington. The next session will be held at Nelson from 6th to 10th (May, inclusive, and thereafter the class will sit at Auckland, the dates fixed being from 13th to 18th May. Sessions at Christchurch and Dunedin will be held simultaneously, from 20th to 24th May. By so doing a, saving of expense will be affected through, minimising the travelling expenses, for by alternating the individual instructors between the two cities, the one lot, travelling from Wellington to Christchurch will be made to serve: both centres.
