MORRINSVILLE.

(Our Own Coirespondent.) . There was a fair muster at the meetmg of Shareholders in the Morrinsville Sileyards, held on Saturday night, although the weather was much against anyone coming a distance. Mr Thomas Hinton was chairman. The reDOrt. whic^

detailed the business done during the year, and recommending a dividend of

six per cent on the paid up capital, was adopted unanimously, as was also the balance sheet, which showed the affairs of x saleyards, to be in a satisfactory condition. It was agreed that the few re - .maining unallotted shares be held for fourteen days to enable the old shareholders to take them up, before offering them to the public Mr J. M. Clifford proposed, and Mr W. Howie seconded a hearty vote of thanks to the Trustees for the able matter in which they had car • out the business of the shareholders. This was carried by acclamation. Mr Hinton returned thanks, and expressed the opinion that the yards were well and cheaply erected, and congratulated the contractors on the work done. A 'TOfe of thanks to Messrs H. and J. Clifford and Alex. Bell for their efforts iu connection with the settlement of the old saleyards case was carried. The usual compliment to the Chairman concluded the business.

A numher of the recruits lately enrolled as members of the Piako Mounted Rifles turned up fcr the usual drill on Saturday night, only to find that it was

put off, which is anything but encouraging, especially "as some of them had travelled over five miles, and, owing to the state of the weather, the journey was anything but pleasant, and does not tend to make the young fellows keen to learn when they know that those in power are easily kept away. If the players chosen roll up on Saturday next, the local football club should give a good account in the coming match, which opens the season for the Piako Rugby Union.
