(By Telegraph—Press Association.) LONDON, Yesterday.

Lord Cawdor’s amendment was carried by a large majority. In the Commons Mr Redmond received Mr Birr ell’s Bill with qualified approval. He disapproved of nominated members, out accepted them in the hope of allaying the fears of the minority. He withheld final judgment of the Bill, but would not repel any device for lessening his : countrymen’s sufferings. At the wish of the Unionists he vehemently denounced the measure as predicting religious strife, and that the minority would be at the mercy of a permanent Catholic majority.
