Fine weather prevailed for the Hawke’s Bay races. There wr - a record attendance.
Longlands Hurdles.—Te Ura 1, Merriwai 2, Nadador 3, divs. £2 11s and £l ss.
Maiden Hack.—Blue River 1, Clochette 2, Waratah 3, divs;£lo 10s and 17s.
Nursery Handicap.—Moriarty 1, Oxton 2, Comedian 3, a good race, won comfortably; divs. £2 14s and 13s.
Hawke’s Bay Cup.—Volume 1, Sir Tristram 2, Chatterer 3, King Billy led for a mile ; there was a good contest between Sir Tristram and Volume, resulting in the latter winning by half a length ; time 2min 12 3-sth secs ; divs. £3 6s and £2 ss. On the double machine Contender and Volume paid £56 Ss
Porangahau Handicap.-r-Contender 1, Lady Annie 2, Loftus 3, all started ; divs. £7 3s and £l 12s. Karamu Hurdles. Pushful 1, Levant 2, Gold Seal 3, dividends £3 19s and £2 19s.
Poukawa Handicap.—Earl King 1. Stratlicone 2, Gauze 3, dividends £5 5s and £6 18s.
