The annual meeting of Rotorua houfeeholdiers [for thle of a sdhbol committee was a remarkable :>ne. About 500 people, including a large number of Maoris, were present. The natives took the greatest interest in the proceedings. Their sympathies were with Mr Webber, the headmaster of the school, and their vote carried the election in his favor. The Maoris insisted on all be speeches of thie Europeans being nterpreted, and they strongly object'd to the nomination of two white vomen, on the ground that it was lontrary to Mlaori custom for Women :o interfere with thle arrangements md business’ of the male sea:.
