Tramway Accident in Wellington.

The most serious accident in connection with the electric tramways, which has occurred in Wellington, happened last night. A palace car containing about six passengers in charge of motorman Eeay, and conductor Perkins, was descending from Brooklyn en route to the city, and when near Nairn-street the car left. * the rails. After travelling a few ; yards it fell over with a crash on ita side. Among the passengers were a middle-aged couple, Mr and Mrs Thomas Bell, of Murchison, Nelson, who had been enjoying a holiday South and were passing through Wellington on the way home. Mrs Bell was killed outright, her body being found in a mangled condition half in and half out of the car. Mr Bell, who is a farmer, is not able to give any clear account of the actual mishap. He escaped with a severe bruising and cut hand and bad shock. He was found clear of the car on the side opposite to the track. The other passengers, one of whom was said to have been a boy could not be traced last evening, but evidently escaped injury, as they disappeared from the scene soon after the accident. Motorman Reay was bruised 1 and slightly cut and conductor Perkins injured about head and suffering from shock. •
