Some of the slaughtermen who were fined for taking part in the recent strike are making a reasonable effort to pay. Every effort has been made to have matters satisfactorily settled, but in a minority of cases, without avail so far. It is therefore probable that at the next sitting of the Supreme Court at Timaru and Christchurch, defaulters will be cited to show cause why a writ of attachment should not he issued against them
