E. Griffiths and Co. dairy produce exporters, New Plymouth, are in receipt of the following- market report from their London essrH Mills and Sparrow, dated Bth March, 1907. Butter. Trade has been a little mixed this week , and quotations in some cases are higher and -in other cases lower. The weather is cool with frosty nights so that the consumption is keeping good and local supplies have not-yet shown signs of increase though they are expected to do so almost immediately. Danish: The advance of one kroner last week was evidently misjudged as it was not m keeping with the general trend of the trade, and buyers kicked to such an extent that yesterday the quotation was reduced 1 kroners (3s 6d) so that the last state is worse, than the first. We see no possibility 5 prices of this commodity improving but they should show a steady decline for the lext few weeks. French : A little more in;erest is being taken in this description, fithough supplies at the ' moment do not ihow any material increase ; they will howiver soon be attractive and prices rapidly define. Siberian : Advices received this week, onnrm our remarks of last week. An inirease of 255. in this season’s production is pnerally estimated and prices in Siberia Luring the week have declined 3s to 4s per swt all round and now range from 79s to 87s lelivered London. These prices are exceedingly low and should soon be attractive, hut rayers generally expect a continuance of food -supplies from Australia, and as the ustrahan article is much more regular in juality they will prefer keeping on to it as ong as the shipments are made. Australian : imvals this week have been very heavy, !onß iS- tlng^of about 30 >000 per India, 21,000 ier Marathon, 24, 000 per Geelong. An exlellent demand has been experienced for all >est grades, particularly for unsalted which ‘°^L Coll^? nCeB B b°w slight premium on aitea. this premium we expect will become lore accentuated each week as receipts of in • j unsalted are rapidly declining, he demand on secondary is a little disapointing ana there is no doubt this descripion will decline in value when compared with est brands. It seems absurd for finest Vicinan butters to be selling at 925, when the ita.fi difference in value is 2d per lb. New ealand : This week’s arrival is 45,000 boxes, sr s.s. Ruapehu. The butters have opened fine order and have met with a ready deand at unchanged prices. General market foe is 98s, hut for best brands Is to 2s more made. It is generally reported that shipents from New Zealand will rapidly decrease nng to dry weather, so that buyers have israted freely this week on current receipts. Cheese.—Demand throughout the week has ®n quiet and although values have been am tain ed, the volume of business done is dhng. New Zealand cheese is turning out 311, but the standard prices of cheese genery being so high buyers are operating very yitiously and pursuing the hand to mouth 'licy.
