Legislative Councillor Drops Dead.

DUNEDIN, This Day.

Hon. William Mouat Bolt M.L.C., dropped dead yesterday while returning from Waipori, where he had attended the ceremony of turning on the electric power for Dunedin. Mr Bolt was born in 1838 at Berwick-on-Tweed, and arrived in New Zealand in 1863. Deceased was called to the Council by the Ballance Government in 1892. He leaves five sons and three daughters. Mr Bolt’s death occurred at 4.45 p.m. Deceased was with others who were walking up the steep pinches to save the horses, and was overexcited. He himself had ’responded to the toast “ Parliament ” earlier in the day, and was then apparently in the best of health.
