Tenders are called by the Ohincmuri County Council for various contracts. The new gasworks at Cambridge were opened on Monday last by the Mayor. A candidate at the Te Aroha householders meeting was Mr James Stanley, and not Mr T. J. Stanley as appeared in our report. Billy Berghofer’s pastry is better than ever since the fire.—Advt. Nelson, which was experiencing a

drought whilst Auckland province was llooded out in January last, is

now experiencing high foods. All ditches have overflowed, some houses being damaged. The Wairoa river is in flood and is still rising. It is feared that the whole country will be under water. At Wakefield flood waters have done considerable dam-

Mr Irwin had gone to 'Worth's paddock for some running exercise, and was persuaded to Jill a .vacancy in a scratch side football match that was being arranged. Mr Irwin was running with the ball when another player named Joughin caught him and bore him to the ground, the fall putting his collarbone out in an unusual way, so that an ordinary setting was not possible, and an operation will probably be necessary to ensure a good set.
