Female Suffrage in Britain.
A CHECK TO THE CATTSEs The fighting suffragists have received a check an what they considered was the road to victory. A large proportion of the women or England have risen at last and declared that .they will strenuously oppose the franchise. Their opposition will take practical shape in a petition to be presented to the Prime Minister bearing 25.000 to 20,000 signatures. The letters which have been received arc expressive, voicing the opinions of so many different classes of the feminine community. One writer draws attention to the letter of an educated New Zealand woman who deplores the enfranchisement of woman m her country, contending that it has lowered her status, and imploring the the Mother country to parse before committing itself The methods to prevent woman’s suffrage will be carefully organised, hut at present the plans of the campaign are being kept secret.
