Walton Athletic Association.
A general committee meeting of tbe Wtnbou Athletic Association was held on Thursday night ait Waihou. Present: Messrs J. R. Johnson (chairman), L. G. Roberts (secratary), R. Parr, J: Comerford, J. Timmins, H. McKenzie, J. B Grant D. Borrie, J. Rooney, J. Lennard. Minutes of the last meeting were read end confirmed.
Mr 8. B. Grant wrote stating that as he was going south he would be unable to judge the step dancing at the SDortgj On the motion of Mr McKenzie, seconded by Mr Parr, it was resolved that Mr Geo. Ppenoe, of Te Aroha, be asked to judge the step-dancing, and that Mr J. Grant assist him in the judeing. Mr R. Nicol wrote confitming his tender for refreshment booth at the sports. General regret was expressed that Mr John Scherer communicated that he would be unable to attend the spoi ts. A communication from the former secretary of the Auckland Caledonian Society stated that that body was now defunct, and that possibly tbe club’s gear could be purchased at a reasonable price. Mr H. McKenzie, on behalf of tbe Ground Committee, reported that the distances had been pegged off and hurdles looked to. The dancing platform had also been ordered, and the ring for the wrestling marked off. Mr McKenzie also reported that blank cartridges were unprocurable in both Te Aroha and Auckland.
On the motion of Mr Parr, Mr J. Rooney was elected as an additional member of the Ground Committee. Mr J. Timmins, on behalf of the Dance Committee, reported that arrangements had been made for the refreshments. On the motion of Mr Borrie, sectnded by Mr Comerford, it was resolved that the resolution electing a dance committee passed at the last meeting be rescinded. On tho motion of Mr Mackenzie, se oonded by Mr Grant, it was resolved that the General Committee arrange the dance. Mr J. Timmins was then elected a nember of the General Committee. On the motion of Mr Borrie, seconded by Mr J, Timmins, it was resolved that .'Jessrs P. Timmins and Alf. Johnson supply the dance music. • , , Mr J. Grant was allotted to the position of gate-keeper. It was resolved that complimentary tickets.be forwarded to the police constables at Te Aroha and Morrinsville. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the proceedings.
