The Waihou Athletic Association, in organising sports at Waihou on the extensive scale now in hand for Easter Monday, is doing a good turn to the district, and it is to be hoped that the entries to be announced on Thursday next, will be good, as will no doubt be the case. In the organisation of such a meeting there is a vaat amount of detail to be arranged,

v d this has now been either dealt with, or relegated to a ground committee for final arrangement. As -'T be seen from the posters that

been issued, an excellent programme of races has been arranged, and the prizes are large enough in value to attract entries from far afield. But in addition to events in which crack runners will naturally be expected to compete, there are several events that are open to those who have less pretensions to high proficiency, whilst other varied items on the programme will both interest and amuse the spectators. Local subscriptions are coming forward well in aid of the event, and the fact that the Railway Department, has granted special facilities for those who wish to visit the sports by rail from a distance, should attract a large number to Waihou on Easter Monday. From the arrangements made at last night’s meeting it is evident that thoroughness and completeness of detail is the one object of the committee —an object that cannot fail to bring its just reward. That Waihou is able to organise an Athletic meeting which her larger neighbour, Te Aroha, does not attempt to hold, is a fact worthy of special praise and healthy support, and we feel sure that a large crowd will be attracted there on the occasion.
