"WAIHOU BBANCH.
✓ A meeting of the Wait ou Branch of the Liberal and Labour Federation was held at Waihou on Thursday night, when about fifteen members were present. In the absence of the Chairman, Mr Timmins, Mr Thomas Bellamy took the chair.
Mr Bellamy apologised for his absence from the last meeting through unavoidable circumstances. He thanked all present for the honour they had conferred upon him in electing him as president. He, however, regretted that he was unablo * to continue that office, and asked that another president be selected from amongst their number. He would be glad to remain a member and would like to serve the Federation under a good leader. -Minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. : The secretary (Mr W. Abbey) bad re.QfcLed a constitution book from the secretary in Wellington. The election of officers was then proceeded with. Proposed by Mr Tbos. Bellamy and seconded-by Mr Abbey, Mr Timmins was unanimously elected president. For the position of vice-president, on the motion of Mr Timmins, seconded by Mr Abbey, Mr Thos. Bellamy was elected vice-president. Mr Abbey was proposed as secretary and treasurer but declined the office. Mr J. Booney was then proposed, but also declined, Mr Abbey, on being pressed, consented to take the office pro tern, this decision being received with applause. j A committee of five was then elected as follows: Messrs H. Mackenzie, M. y Grady, Jas. Booney, Pat. Timmins, L. 3-, Boberts. Mr Abbey moved that the subscription ae the same as Te Aroha. 2s for gentlenen and Is for ladies. This was carried manimously. The application for the charter was hen signed' by the members who were •resent. On the motion of Mr Timmins, seconded 'Y Mr T. Bellamy, it was resolved that he monthly meetings be held on the 'hursday before the full moon in each lonth. •' It was decided that the president and Jcretary should interview Mr Mackenzie, •ie of the trustees of the Public Hall, to Grange the fee to be charged for the use f the Hall. A hearty vote of thanks to the Chairan concluded the proceedings, the hairman expressing a hope that each ember would bring a friend to the next eeting.
