EXAMINATIONS AND ANSWERS.
In a recent letter Mr Malcolm, MLH.R. for Glutha, suggested to the Minister of Education that when , cop ies of the examination papers set by his department last December were being prints ed for distribution the answers should be appended, to the questions- set in arithmetic and algebra-. The cost and trouble wo-uld be nil, but 'the advantage to back-blocks teachers and others who have . to study without tutors I would be great-. In future years answI ers to- perhaps all the papers might be published. The Minister has, h-oWever, advised Mr Malcolm to the following effect: “As the pamphlets published purport to contain only copies of the papers l set it- does not see-m expedient to include the answers 1 . In such subjects' as arithmetic and algebra .the answer® are easily ascertainable by tbe persons concerned 1 ; in others the possible answers are so various that the undertaking Would 'be- somewhat formidable.”
