A TRENTHAM HAPPENING.
It appears that the alteration of one of the cards in the volunteer match “AF’ to-day is of a more serious nature than appeared at first blush. From what cam, be learned outside (the council meet in private) it appears that some competitors were becoming suspicious of the manner in which the scores .. were being registered on at least one target, and it was a,t the expense of their own shooting that they kept am eye on those whom they had suspicion!. « ! At the 600 yards range one of the men upon who suspicion rested loft the mound with! his total at 33, and both his eard and blackboard showed this. Being challenged as to the correctness of these figures the competitor, who hails from the South Island, admitted that the correct score was 2,7 find, his score was altered to that, number. The register-keeper, who also comes from ..the South, admits -the correctness of th!e score (27), and he initialled the card to that effect. There are two others implicated, .and the matter will 'be discussed tonight by the Council. The members of latter are reticent, but it! is probable that those connected with the matter will be disqualified bv the Association.
