Factories, collieries and schools were closed The local men played seven forwards and three halves. Gloucester played a good game till Hudson, their three-quarter, had to retire hurt. In the first spell, Glenc, Smith, Deans, Seeling, Wallace and Hunter crossed the line, Wallace converting three and Gillett one. In the second spell Gloucester lost Wood, their half-back, who was injured. In this spell Deans scored twice, and Wallace and Seeling a ti-y each.' Wallace converted three of the tries. The game ended, New Zealand 44, Glouces r er nil.
