• EXECUTIVE MEETING. A meeting of the Executive Committee of 10 Piako Ratepayers’ Reform Association 'as held in the Council Chambers, Morrinsilie, on Friday last. Present: Messrs R. C. lien (chairman), N. A. Lamey, W. C. ickett, T. McGloin, J. Tretheway, H. J. ififord, Bell, R. Lamey (secretary). Minutes of the last meeting were read and nfirmed. Mr Lamey said as far as personal feelings erp concerned he would rather stand aside id give place to a Morrinsville man. A letter was read from the Matamata anch of the Farmers’ Union stating that
Saturday last at their meeting the subject Comity Council matters whs discussed, and eluded the “ Riding System” as adopted ' other counties. The letter stated that e_ members of that branch of the lion were unanimously in favour of the option of the Riding System in the Piako >unty. > It was decided that a letter should be sent the Matamata branch of the Farmers’ lion congratulating them on their resolun, and that literature on the subject should forwarded to them. Mr Clifford: There is more discontent an one would think. Messrs Lamey, McGloin and Thomas conitel to stand for election to tha Council. A house-to-house canvass has been made Manawaru and has been rather successful. Mr N. A. Lamey gave particulars of the ails of the bridge at Coleman’s Creek, ich was not to specifications. Mr Pickett proposed the Chairman issue a nifesto to all members of the Association, 1 publicly announce those members which 1 been selected as candidates to represent s Association in the Council. This was onded and carried. Mr McGloin : I take it for granted that i Manawaru branch is already formed. Mr Tretheway said he had obtained a numof names at the creamery and that the nch was formed. % Mr Pickett : Should we not have a meetat which the candidates could address all jpayers irrespective of whether they were nbers or not. Mr McGloin: I think any candidate who 1 not come forward and state their views, Y are not worthy of the support of the ipayers, and I think that a meeting should sailed at Morrinsville and also at Waihou. fr Trqtheway thought it was a very good i that candidates should state their policy i meeting. [r Pickett moved that meetings be held at ■rinsyille and Waihou at which the candiis be , requested to attend to state their vs. Seconded and carried, tr Lamey said an important point was the ointment of scrutineers, not that he wished lake any aspersions, but that it was only it in the interests of reform, to see to these rters.
