M. U. Oddfellows.

The usual fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Hot Springs Lodge was held in the lodge room, Rewi street, last Friday evening, H.G. Bro. Harris presiding over a fair attendance. Several visiting Oddfellows were present including Past Provincial Grandmaster Bro J. Wheatley, Auckland. The honours of the Order were conferred on Bro. Wheatley who, in responding said he had only that day arrived from Rotorua and had nothing but good things to say about the manner in which the Rotorua Oddfellows had treated him. He dealt at considerable length with the benefits obtained by being a member of the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows apart from medical benefits and sick and funeral grants, instancing numerous cases where valuable assistance had been given to members of the Order partieu'nrlv new arrivals in the colony. He thanked the lodge for the welcome they had extended to him. Two candidates were elected members aud duly initiated into the Order, and three candidates were proposed for membership. A c/mrnittee was appointed to make arrangements for receiving the members of tho Cambridge Lodge who are to visit the Te Arolnv Lodge at tho next meeting Bros. Har is, W. Mclnman, E. A. Power, C. Molmuau, G. Sherlock, J. Fugill, and H. Hemming were appointed to confer with representatives of tho To Aroha Lodge of Druids with regard to holdiug the next Friendly Societies Gala. Sick pay was passed to two members, one member declaring off the sick fund. At tho conclusion of the meeting another of tho series of round Socials was held when all went merrily until midnight when tho party dispersed for their homes.
