SAND PIT COLLAPSES,

Mr W. Simonds was working in a sand pit at Manavvaruyesterday, when a portion of the pit side gave way, burying him up to the waist, at the same time knocking him- down, his head being badly cut by striking the wheel of the dray beside him. Mr Simonds was conveyed to Te Aroha and attended to by Dr Kenny. Luckily Mr Currie was talking to Mr Simonds at the time, and quickly rendered good service by digging him out.
