Morrinsville Methodist Sunday School.
PRESENTA TION TO MISS LESTER.
On Sunday, October Ist, a most interesting event took place in the Sunday School held in the Methodist Church,at Morrinsvilie. Miss Lester, daughter of the Rev G. Lester of Nottingham, one of the most eminent ministers of the Wesleyan Methodist Church in England, has been a teacher in the School for about three years. During this period Miss Lester has won the love of the scholars in a remarkable manner by her extreme kindness, and it was felt by those connected with the school that Miss Lester should not be allowed to leave without some recognition of her services to the School, as it was known that this would be her last attendance before leaving New Zealand. About eighty were present, including some of the parents and relatives of the scholars. After singing and prayer, prizes were given to the scholars by Miss Allen, of Annandale. An excellent address was then delivered by the Rev. J. Blight. Mr Neels, of Morrinsvilie, one of the teachers, then made an admirablo address, expressing his deep regret that Miss Lester was about to leave, and assuring her how highly her services had been esteemed, and how she was regarded with feelings of great affection by all connected with the School. Miss Edger then, on behalf of the scholars and teachers of the School presented Miss Lester with a beautiful greenstone brooch mounted in gold, and having the letters N.Z. but in pearls, and also a greenstone pendant with pin: Miss Lester then in appropriat and touching language expressed he gratitude for the beautiful gift she had so unexpectedly received, and her sorrow at leaving the School. The proceedings then terminated with the hymn “ God be with you till wo meet again,” and the Benediction. Miss Lester sails for England in the Corinthis Qn the 12tli, and her departure is deeply regretted by her numerous friends at Morrinsvilie, to whom she has endeared herself by her constant and extreme kindness.
