Mental Hospital Report.
The report for 1904 on the Mental Hospitals of the colony shows that during the year the number of patients admitted was 580 (mates 340, females 240), a decrease of 101 from the total for the previous year. Of males ad* mitred, 105 were labourers, 30 farmers, 20 no occupation, 14 clerks, 12 carpenters, 12 gumdiggers, 8 sailors, most o:her trades represented by one or two cases only. Of females, domestic duties 134, housewives,. 46, |domestic -ervants 15, no occupation 14. During rhe last five years the annual cost per patient has ranged from £2l 19s to £23 lls s£~; during last year the cost [j-r patient was £23 Os lljd. During he year the receipts from the sale of produce from the asylum farms totalled £4,218 Ts 6d.
