Smith has recently gone to the Gordon, where ho is milking up.wards of [one hundred cows . for Mr ‘ Bradey. ; ' , f Several of the farmers in this dis-j trict are contemplating taking legal proceedings against persons who tre-| pass on their farms—chiefly on Sun-! days—-for the purpose of hunting and! • shooting hares, ' - ' These 'people aiei - generally accompanied by dogs, which have greatly annoyed the farmers by ; running after, and frightening cows, especially those near calving. It is alleged- that quite a number of cows have died in the district from this cause. Mr J. Baker has now left the ft N.Z.D A. Creamery, and is now taking his milk,to the Co-op. ‘ We hear that a petition is being extensively signed at Aratiatia, with the object of calling the attention of ;.the authorities to the dangerous state of the road and cutting near Shaftesbury Bridge, - , ' ~ People here are looking forward to - the meeting to be held in the ManaWarn school on Tuesday n?x(l V !
