[By Telegraph—Press Associaton.l London, August 29. Winning the toss, the Australians went in against Gloucestershire on a soft wicket and have scored 101 for the loss of one wicket. Darling, not out, was the chief contributor. The weather was cloudy at the start, but it is now raining. Rain interrupted play at intervals during the day. When stumps were drawn the Colonials had lost 7 wickets for 184. Darling increased his score to 99 before he was caught. Trumper 27, and Hopkins 22 were the next highest scores. Later. In the first innings Australia realised 195. Dennet, Mills and Brown each secured three wickets. Gloucester in their first innings scored 137. Wrathell 55, Sewell 18, were the only batsmen to make double figures, and the extras totted up to twenty. Laver and Howell each secured five wickets.
