Mr Clarken's Sale at Paeroa.
Mr John Clarkin’s sale of horses and contracting and hauling plant was held at Paeroa yesterday. The special t’ain which ran from Frankton was packed to the utmost limit. Fortunately for all parties the day was fine, and the extensive paddock in which the sale took place was filled with a jovial crowd gathered from far and near. A really fine line of horses was offered, and the sale was most successful from the point of view of price, very high prices being realised. Two fine young mares sold during the morning, realised just short of £SO apiece. The sale in tt e afternoon was, on the whole, not so satisfactory as in the morning, and a number of intending purchasers expressed their disapproval of the fact that many of the best horses were reserved. This fact caused keen disappoint rnent to many who had turned up with the intention of buying. Mr Glarkin, however, is so well-known as a good judge and breeder of horses, that those who were fortiinate enough to become purchasers of some of the best lots cannot fail to be thoroughly satisfied. ,
