Funeral of the late Mrs Ryan.

The funeral of the late Mrs Ryan took place at Aratiatia on Sunday. The cortege was of exceptional length, consisting of thirty-four vehicles and about fifty horsemen, assembled to pay a last tribute to one whom they had so long respected. The coffin was covered with floral emblems of reverence and respect from sorrowing relations and friends, many of whom had journeyed long distances to accompany the departed to her last resting place. The interment took place at Te Aroha West. The cemetery reached, the mourners gathered at the grave-side, when the last rites were performed by the Rev. F. MoGuinness.

Mrs Ryan was a native of Tipperary, Ireland, and emigrated to Australia in the early sixties, being married in Melbourne forty-two years ago, and has been in New Zealand thirty years, Her genial disposition and kind-heartedness won for her many friends, apd in, this district Mrs Ryan was held iu high esteem by all who came in contact with her, She was the mother of nine children —eight girls and one boy —all of whom are living and were present at the funeral. Mrs Somors, of the Hot Springs Hotel, Te Aroha, and Mrs Win. Walton, are both daughters. Numerous relations from AucWand, Thames, and other towns, attended the funeral. The deepest sympathy is felt and expressed for the husband and children in their bereavement.
