Tiie Railway Statement laid on the table ‘of the House shows that the total earnings on the railways for 1905 were £2,209,231, and the expenditure £1,492.900. Net profits on working was £716,331. Them go of line open for traffic on 31st March last was 2371 miles against 2328 for the previous year. The capital cost of linos open for traffic lias increased from £20,092,911 last year ;to £21,701,572 for the year under review. The train miles run during the year were 0,107,079, against 5,985,499 for the previous year. Iho number of passengers carried during the year was 8,51-1,112, an increase of 207,729. Til o Minister estimates the railway revenue for the year ending March 31st, 1905, at £2,240,000, and the expenditure at £1,520,000,
