Mr Sidey moved the second reading of the Bible Lessons in Public Schools Plebisite Bill, the debate lasting several hours. Bir Joseph Ward said the proposal now submitted would lead to tho introduction of denominationalism into schools and he would prefer to see a straight out vote taken on the question of whether th© present education system should be continued or not. Eventually the second reading was carried by 39 to 22. The House rose at 1.10 a.m.
