Regarding the evidence of Me Donald at the Police Commissioi that he heard Auckland was th vo.ist place of the lot in regard to thefts, the members of th< Auckland force have expressed the opinion that the Coinmis s Loners should insist on obtaining the source of McDonald’s infor mation with a view to sifting it to the bottom. At the Police Commission, two constables gave evidence denying what McDonald saic as to older hands being impfr eated. Constable Juriss, who after t ho robberies was askedto resignj denied emphatieally having anything to do with them, or anv knowledge of them. He asked detectives to visit ■ house at once and was told JthH was no suspicion against hir*BM Sergt. Higgins, re-called, wiW drew the statement about defaulters being sent to Dunedin and not elsewhere. Oamaru, This Day. ' McDonald’s statement as to the police in Oamaru is totally denied. Tradesmen state that* nothing of the kind has taken place, and the police authorities have received no complain!? whatever. j$S
